Brief History of The Organisation

RAJARHAT DISHA REHABILITATION CENTRE, A combined effort of a team of social workers qualified in different related fields with Sandip Mukherjee as the main leading person is a non-profit organisation formed to provide service to people suffering from the disease of substance abuse and various psychiatric and psychological disorders. This is a socio-economic problem, which is affecting our society directly and indirectly. Directly to the substance abuser who becomes a burden on the society, as he/she is rendered incapable to lead a productive life by the addiction and indirectly to the people around him/her. This problem has also a direct link to increase in the spread of HIV/STD/AIDS through injecting drug users and impaired behavior. The problem of substance addiction is rampant in our community and anti-social activities are direct fall out of this, as the substance abuser has to sustain his/her addiction at any cost.

We believe that a drug-addict or alcoholic can stop using drugs/drinking and be a productive and responsible member of the society if a conducive atmosphere of recovery is made available to him/her.

Our approach to drug and alcohol addiction treatment has 3 components, encompassing the mind, body and spirit of the individual. We are a client-centered facility based on respect and compassion. At our holistic drug rehabilitation center, each problem area is individually addressed and a wide range of therapeutic interventions to help each client achieve their specific goal is offered to them. We combine the best of traditional forms of therapy and treatment with the most effective holistic therapies available today with empathy as a key factor to the approach. The treatment procedure of DISHA includes the 12-step recovery program. Our Program is tailored to meet the individual's specific needs by treating the person in a holistic way which includes involvement of their families. All this is accomplished in a loving and caring professional manner, which we feel is the hallmark of quality treatment to those who are addicted to help them recover. Holistic counselling helps continue the process offering a one-year after care program that provides a support system, with a focus on a relapse prevention plan and problem solving. We give people their lives back everyday!
